There is a wide range of functions within pensions – from analytical, to sales and advisory roles in both the creation and development of schemes.

Pensions careers involve a wide range of tasks that must be in line with pensions legislation. Experience of Defined Benefit (DB), Defined Contribution (DC), schemes including leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers in, transfers out, monthly processing and investment, benefit statements, renewals and pension increases will be found throughout most roles in pensions.

Pensions administrators must also handle complex pensions queries and pensions consultative advice, check work including calculations, and complete report and data updates. They will also liaise with trustees and relevant government departments and other third parties.

Pensions professionals should possess analytical, IT and interpersonal skills as many roles will involve conveying complex information. Professional development is certified by the PMI and includes the CPC, QPA, DPC, RPC and APMI.
